Mini Greenhouse Project

Bella Thomas

We all know how much I love my plants and my tiny things, so combining the two was inevitable. I got started one very long naptime by experimenting with cut paper and glue and produced this little bird of paradise.

(yes, I made the basket too. no, I cannot just sit down and relax)

From there it was a slippery slope into mini greenhouse ownership. Don't do crafts, kids.

From left: bird of paradise, pothos, pilea.

The furniture is Michaels' finest dollhouse basic, painted by me last year for my witch's house miniature scene. The greenhouse itself is originally from Fred Meyer, but found at goodwill many a year ago.

The plants are all watercolor paper, hand cut, painted, and glued. The pots are a mixture of thrifted, bought from Collage, (my favorite local art supply) and handmade mini baskets. For soil I mix coconut coir with glue. The glue, you ask? Wood glue stolen from my partner's stash of home improvement supplies. This is strictly a racoon digging through the trash operation, here.

Snake plant peeking out at the bottom left. I'm really proud of this tiny terrarium - I don't think you fully appreciate how teeny tiny that sucker is. He's bringing me so much joy.

It's still a work in progress! I have plans for some hanging plants and more baskets. But it's looking pretty darn good, if I do say so myself.

Hello Again

Well, it's been a while! Lots of changes over here - I'm a redhead now (thanks, Overtone), I'm still nannying but for a different baby...
